Why sign in
Playing free does not need an account. Sign in is what keeps the things you earn by coming back.
What an account keeps
You can play as a guest. Sign in is what keeps your streak and the companions you have earned. It is also how collected tile designs stay with you. Classic tile colours stay free, with or without an account. You earn a new design by playing solo hands while signed in.
The mats in Table look are free for everyone, except Citrus Grove. That one unlocks when you share and finish a private multiplayer game. Signing in saves that unlock with your account.
Your display name, up to 12 characters, and your face can stay on the device. The new-game step calls the face an avatar. Both are saved for next time, and neither needs an account. If you do sign in, the name you choose is your own, up to those 12 characters, and it stays independent of Google.
